The Marysville man accused of going on a shooting spree Saturday night that left one man dead and two others wounded has a long history of trouble with the law, News10 has learned.
It is still not clear why Aaron Dunn, a 28-year-old electrician, allegedly opened fire on total strangers in the Laguna section of Elk Grove Saturday night, but people who know him say his life had been spiraling out of control. Dunn’s estranged wife told News10 she left with their young daughter last August and that Dunn’s drug problems had been made worse by his refusal to get help. She said he had never been a violent person, but law enforcement is familiar with him.
“He was wanted out of Yuba City, Marysville. He had an $11,000 warrant,” said Sgt. R.L. Davis of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
News10 has learned Dunn has prior arrests for battery, being drunk in public, failure to appear in court and driving under the influence.
Dunn was shot and wounded by Elk Grove Police officers just before 8 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly opened fire on strangers outside several restaurants on Laguna Boulevard.
